Device Compatibility

Check if your device supports eSIM before purchasing a plan.

Device Compatibility

eSIM technology is supported on most modern smartphones. Before purchasing an eSIM plan, follow the steps below to confirm your device supports eSIM.

How to Check if Your Device Supports eSIM

iOS (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap About
  4. Scroll down — if you see "Available SIM", "eSIM", or "EID", your device supports eSIM

Tip: You can also go to Settings → Mobile Data (or Cellular) and look for "Add eSIM" or "Add Data Plan". If this option exists, your device supports eSIM.

Android

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Network & Internet (or Connections on Samsung)
  3. Tap SIM cards or Mobile network
  4. If you see an option like "Add eSIM", "Download SIM", or "Add a carrier", your device supports eSIM

Check eSIM Settings by Brand

Apple (iPhone / iPad)

Settings → General → About Look for "EID" (eSIM ID) near the bottom of the list. Any device showing an EID supports eSIM.

Supported from: iPhone XS / XS Max / XR and later; iPad Pro (3rd gen+), iPad Air (3rd gen+), iPad mini (5th gen+), iPad (7th gen+)

Samsung

Settings → Connections → SIM card manager If you see a "+ Add mobile plan" or "Download SIM" option, your device supports eSIM.

Supported from: Galaxy S20 series and later (most regions), Galaxy Z Fold / Flip series, Galaxy Note 20 series and later

Google Pixel

Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs If you see "Download a SIM instead?" or a "+" button to add a SIM, your device supports eSIM.

Supported from: Pixel 3 and later (except Pixel 3a in some regions)

Xiaomi / MIUI

Settings → SIM cards & mobile networks Look for a "Download eSIM" or "Add eSIM" option.

eSIM is available on select Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO models. Please check your specific model's official specifications.

Huawei / Honor

Settings → Mobile network → SIM Management Look for "Add eSIM" or "Download SIM card".

Note: Huawei devices released after 2020 may have limited carrier support due to hardware changes.

OPPO / OnePlus / Realme

Settings → SIM card & mobile data Look for an "Add eSIM" or "eSIM" tab.

eSIM is available on select flagship and mid-range models. Please verify your model's specifications.

Motorola

Settings → Network & Internet → SIM cards Look for "Add SIM" or "Download SIM" option.

Supported on select Moto Edge and Moto G series models.

Additional Checks

Check via IMEI / EID

Your device's EID (Embedded Identity Document) is a unique 32-digit number that identifies the eSIM chip. If your device has an EID, it supports eSIM.

  • iOS: Settings → General → About → EID
  • Android: Settings → About phone → SIM status (or IMEI) → EID
  • Physical SIM tray: Some devices print the EID on the SIM card tray

Carrier Lock

Even if your device supports eSIM, it may be carrier-locked, which prevents activation of eSIMs from other providers. Please contact your carrier to check if your device is unlocked before purchasing.

Requirements for Activating eSIM

  • Device supports eSIM (confirmed above)
  • Device is unlocked (not carrier-locked)
  • iOS 12.1+ or Android 9.0+
  • Stable Wi-Fi or data connection during activation
  • Valid QR code or activation code from eSimValue
